Miss Kuku, the Asian-American fusion restaurant on Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street. They were previously known as Kuku Mama in their earlier days as a pop up kitchen, serving up North American street food. Miss Kuku has since upped their game and partnered up with the Hoo Haa bar to create a unique dining experience for Melbournians.
What’s a bottomless dinner ?
The ‘all you can eat’ style of eating bears many names, from the Swedish ‘smorgasbord’ to the ‘bottomless dinners’ of Melbourne. The bizarre concept of all you can eats was first practised by the Swedish in the 20th century and later introduced to the rest of the world in 1956 by Herbert Cobb McDonald, the visionary behind Las Vegas. Just a little bit of food history for all you foodies out there.
The bottomless dinner and drinks deal at Miss Kuku
All you can eats, buffets or whichever name you want to call it, is infamous for their trashy food. We’ve all been to a buffet style diner before. Although the food ain’t great, we still go just to get completely stuffed for close to nothing.
Miss Kuku has definitely changed the game, giving the old boring ‘all you can eat’ style dining a new quirky name ‘bottomless dinners’. Usually big changes comes with even bigger price tags but Miss Kuku is definitely not the usual bunch. They’ve kept their bottomless dinner option at $25 per head and the bottomless dinner and drinks deal at $55 a head. That’s peanuts if you ask me, especially for the quality of food their serving.
Miss Kuku’s menu recommendations
We would recommend absolutely everything! You’re already doing the bottomless dinner so might as well make the most of it. Right?
Unfortunately, our food comas tend to kick in before our appetite taps out. So there’s always a trade off, first rule of food economics. We’ve always got to pick and choose the best before we conquer the rest.
Our favourites were:
Snacks
Mac N’ Cheese Squared
3 pieces of deep fried mac n’ cheese blocks topped with buttermilk ranch dressing. The cheesiest mac n’ cheese blocks we’ve ever had!

Deep South Chicken Bao
3 southern fried chicken served with an amazing slaw and house bbq sauce. Such an amazing combo, would recommend to share!

Fried Chicken Wings
10 or 19 Szechuan chilli coated wings seasoned with South East Asian spices. If you’re a fried chicken fan then this a must have! We even ordered seconds.
Mains
Bao Lettuce Cup
Choice of jack fruit, BBQ chicken, miso pork and beef brisket fillings served with pickled cucumber, chilli daikon, red reddish, fennel and cabbage slaw. Quirky but creative dish, takes a few bites to get use to but highly recommend you give it a shot. You’ll grow to love it!
Beef Brisket Burrito
Slow cooked beef brisket in a burrito wrapped with mozzarella, black beans, rice, lettuce, slaw and animal sauce. Although this burrito is quite typical, we listed it as our favourite because the beef brisket was just simply mouthwatering. It was so juicy and tender that it melted in our mouths within seconds!

Dessert
Apple Cheesecake Chimichanga
Apple cheesecake chimichanga served with ice cream and cinnamon. No better way to finish off our bottomless dinner, not too heavy and not too sweet. Just right!

Drinks
Lychee Rose Daiquiri
Bacardi white rum, lychee, rose syrup, lime. This one’s a beauty to look at and a treat to taste.

Our experience at Miss Kuku
Johnny and I spend our weekends like middle aged retirees. Simple, quiet and early. We’re not the typical 20 year olds that hit up the club every weekend. We don’t drink much nor do we like loud and crowded places.
Miss Kuku’s on a Saturday night was definitely not what we’re normally use to, music blasting and crowds of people gathering. Very lively atmosphere, great vibes and tunes playing throughout the night. We had our little booth, which tucked us away from the heart of the commotion. But still enough for us to enjoy the best of both worlds. Even if you’re not the typical bar and club people like Johnny and I, I promise you’ll still enjoy an incredible bottomless dinner experience at Miss Kuku.
