Pinkie : Brunch Adventures In Ivanhoe

Hey guys , we’ve got a confession to make…It might be strange to some of you but completely normal for others. We’ve never actually been to Ivanhoe before… Yep, 21 years in Melbourne and not once have we made the trip to that side of town. But guess where Sunday brunch took us this week…

Pinkie – Ivanhoe

Not much of a surprise at all, the title gave it all away! No fun. Maybe we should get you guys to guess the place next time ? Let us know what you think and we’ll start spicing things up around here!

Okay so Johnny doesn’t like driving and when I say ‘doesn’t like’, I mean he completely despises it. If you could get him to drive further than 20 minutes away from home then you’re a bloody legend. It’s impossible. But I’m a legend and I talked him into it… as always. Kidding! I lied and told him the GPS said 15 minutes when in fact …

Moral of the story…sometimes a little lie won’t hurt nobody. Well I suppose, it’ll only hurt Johnny. But desperate times calls for desperate measures.

After putting up with his tantrum for 30 bloody minutes, we finally made it to Pinkie. Parking was super easy, plenty of spots nearby. The complaining stopped as soon as we walked inside. We instantly knew it was our type of cafe just from the decor and cafe environment. Johnny loved the design of the building, he’s a big fan of that industrial look with pipes running along the ceiling. I was more mesmerised by the green vines and plants that sat alongside the vent.

There were so many people here, it’s definitely the goto brunch spot for the locals. Luckily we had a booking so the waitress walked us over to our table by the window.

We finally made up our minds after debating for a solid hour about what to order. The menu was so good, we held back from ordering the whole lot. Too bad our bank accounts wouldn’t let us. Life isn’t fair!

Oreo Thick Shake ($8.50) + Nutberry Smoothie ($9.00)

I started off our brunch session with an Oreo thick shake and Johnny went with the Nutberry smoothie. You could already guess which one’s the healthy one in this relationship.

It was hands down the best Oreo shake I’ve ever had in a cafe. I don’t normally rave about drinks but this one is rave-able.

Acai Bowl – $16.00

You wouldn’t guess who ordered this bowl of goodness… Johnny of course. Obviously not me because I’m clearly healthy enough already.

According to the Acai bowl expert (Johnny), this bowl had the perfect blend of muesli, nuts and fresh fruits. He killed it in one slurp, not even kidding. One day I should record him eating for you guys, he literally just stuffs his mouth full and swallows. There’s no chewing at all, seriously.

Mediterranean Eggs

Now if you guessed the Acai bowl then you definitely know which one of us ordered the baked eggs. Me of course! Only awesome people have baked eggs. My favourite dish of the day – I loved how great the flavours came together. The eggs were perfect, not overcooked like all the other places we’ve been to. Everything was just right, the right ratio and the right flavours. Absolutely amazing dish.

Double Bacon Cheeseburger – $19.50

We always have to order three dishes because:
1. We’re fat and we’re always hungry afterwards
2. Burgers are life
3. Johnny always steals my food

We haven’t had burgers in awhile so we thought why not treat ourselves to a juicy double bacon cheeseburger. This one went down so god damn good, loved how they used kewpie sauce with the burger. I didn’t get any of the bacon cause the prick took it all with his deceiving ‘come on just a little bite’.

We were filled to the brim by the end of it and literally couldn’t even talk anymore. Brunch goes by so quickly and next thing you know , you’re back to another week of boring old life.

We loved the vibes at Pinkie, the team was absolutely amazing and the food was just simply WOW! We’re definitely returning\again some time in the near future but for now we’ve got to bid our farewells.

Hope you guys enjoyed this weeks brunch shenanigans with us, please make sure you drop your thoughts below. We would love to hear what you think and what you want us to blog about next week.
